Which materials are used?
Not all plastic is the same.
Each plastic is individual and its properties make it unique.
There are suitable raw materials for almost every application.
POM / Polyoxymethylene
POM or polyoxymethylene is one of the typical engineering thermoplastics with good mechanical properties and high dimensional stability as well as excellent sliding and wear behavior. POM is therefore particularly well suited for use in spice mills.
PE / Polyethylene
Polyethylene is the most widely used plastic, accounting for around 30% of the total. Strength, hardness and stiffness of PE are lower than most other thermoplastics, but PE has high ductility and low-temperature impact strength as well as good sliding friction behavior.
PP / Polypropylene
Polypropylene is the second most important plastic, accounting for around 20% of total production. Although polypropylene is chemically relatively similar to PE, it is significantly harder, stronger and thermally more resilient.
PET / polyethylene terephthalate
Polyethylene terephthalate belongs to the polyester family and is very popular for food packaging. In addition to its resistance, it is also characterized by excellent barrier properties and the resulting high level of aroma safety.
r-PET
r-PET is recycled polyethylene terephthalate that is put to a second use and thus represents a sustainable alternative to the use of raw materials. It has the same technical and chemical properties as PET - and with a significantly smaller carbon footprint.
